Progress Report for the month of July, 2014

1. More than 95% construction work of the Information Plaza at Patto-Panaji has been completed. 40% work of Multilevel Car Parking Plaza has been completed, 60% work of upgradation/renovation of Tourism Jetty has been completed & river cruise is being operated in the completed portion of the Jetty. The work of Baga Coastal Circuit development is in process.

2. Department of Tourism has tendered the work construction of 2nd Institute of Hotel Management & Catering Technology at Farmagudi. Formalities are completed and work order is being issued. Government has administratively approved development of access road to Konshi Spring at Sirsaim.

3. Government has administratively approved & finally sanctioned the work of “supply, erection, testing and commissioning of 16 mtrs. High Mast Lighting System at Patto, Ribandar.” Department of Tourism has appointed KPMG consortium, Mumbai for preparation of Tourism Master Plan & tourism policy.

4. The work of development, deployment, management, and operation of Water Safety Patrol almost throughout the coastline with State of Art facilities in the coastal waters of the State of Goa on turnkey basis is in operation through M/s Drishti Special Response Services Private Limited, Donapaula.

5. Patrolling on the beaches is being carried out by the IRB Police personnel deployed on the beaches of Goa.

6. With regard to tender floated for providing beach lifeguarding and safety services on the beaches of Goa, M/s Drishti Special Response Services Pvt. Ltd. consortium has been selected as a preferred bidder by the Government for carrying out the said work and accordingly Offer letter for the said work was issued to them which has been accepted by them. Work Order was approved by the Government but the file had to be resubmitted for consideration of request of the successful bidder to change the date of commencement of the contract and to make it 1/7/2014. Decision of the Government is awaited.

7. Beach Cleaning:With regard to tender floated for “Comprehensive Management of Cleanliness on the beaches of Goa”, M/s Bhumika Transport led Consortium and M/s Ram Engineering led Consortium has been selected as a preferred bidder for North Goa and South Goa beaches stretches respectively by the Government. Work order for the new contracts is yet to be issued. 

The proposal for extension of existing beach cleaning contract for further period of two months i.e. upto 31/7/2014, has been accepted by the Government.

8. River Princess:As per the direction of the Monitoring Committee in  its meeting held on 26/5/2014.

a) The contractor is directed to pay the outstanding amount of Rs.4,00,16,030/- alongwith the interest to the Government within 30 days, failing which the amount will be recovered by encashing  the Bank Guarantee. 

b) Explanation is sought from M/s Ericson & Richards (Goa), Ship and Marine Surveyors & Ship valuers, Vasco-da-Gama-Goa for submitting false/incorrect report being a reputed company.

c) A letter is issued to NIO, Dona Paula requesting them to submit the estimated cost and other details so as carry out the underwater survey i.e.Bathymetry, Side Scan Sonar, Sub-bottom Profiling at Candolim after monsoon.

d) The contractor is directed to pay Rs.4,00,29,692/-, the amount of the current sale proceeds of the scrap of the vessel.

9. As part of promotionInspection of huts, hotels and travel agency and site inspection of shacks is in progress. Issuing of Show Cause Notice to the Government shack allottees for carrying out illegal activities is in progress. Refund of shack fees of unsuccessful shack applicants is in progress.

10. Goa Tourism Development Corporation Ltd. as Special Purpose Vehicle has participated in Domestic Travel Fairs/ Exhibitions at TTF- Kolkata, TTF- Hyderabad, IITM- Chennai & IITM- Bangalore.
