Progress Report for the month of August, 2014

1. More than 95% construction work of the Information Plaza at Patto-Panaji has been completed. 40% work of Multilevel Car Parking Plaza has been completed, 60% work of upgradation/renovation of Tourism Jetty has been completed & river cruise is being operated in the completed portion of the Jetty. 60% work of Baga Coastal Circuit development is completed. The work of Calangute – Candolim Circuit is in progress.
 

2. Government has administratively approved & financially sanctioned the work of repair/replacement of luminaries provided to Shree Pandurang Temple - Sankhalim, Shree Mahamaya Kalika Temple - Kasarpal and Shree Devi Lairai Temple - Sirigao-Goa.
 

3. Government has administratively approved the work of upgradation/beautification of Tourist Places in Quepem Taluka -   Beautification of Traffic Roundabout and Roads with pathways at Ambedkar Circle and Beautification of road from Ambedkar Circle to Shivaji Circle with Pathways and construction of Tourist Block near Library Building at Curchorem-Goa under tribal sub- plan.
 

4. The work of development, deployment, management, and operation of Water Safety Patrol almost throughout the coastline with State of Art facilities in the coastal waters of the State of Goa on turn key basis is in operation through M/s Drishti Lifesaving Pvt. Ltd, Donapaula.
 

5. Patrolling on the beaches is being carried out by the IRB Police personnel deployed on the beaches of Goa.
 

6. Work Order has been issued to M/s Drishti Lifesaving Pvt. Ltd, for carrying out the work of providing beach lifeguarding and safety services on the beaches of Goa,  w.e.f. 1/7/2014 for a period of five years.
 

7. Beach Cleaning: Offer letter for the work of “Comprehensive Management of Cleanliness on the beaches of Goa”, has been issued to both the successful bidders i.e. M/s Bhumika Transport led Consortium and M/s Ram Engineering led Consortium for North Goa and South Goa respectively.
 
Presently, the beach cleaning work is being carried by the earlier private contractors.
 

8. River Princess:

a)   On 4/8/2014, a letter is issued to the Captain of Ports requesting them to calculate Clear Weather Days as per the Meteorological Data submitted by Meteorological Department, Mumbai.

b)   On 11/8/2014 a letter is issued to the contractor M/s Arihant Ship Breakers directing them to deposit the excess amount of earlier/current  sale proceed of the scrap of the vessel M. V. River Princess before 20/08/2014.

c)   Government approval is obtained towards the payment of M/s Goa Shipyard Ltd.
d)  TCS / VAT with regard to sale of scrap of the vessel M. V. River Princess is paid after obtaining Government’sapproval.

e)   On 23/06/2014 an Appellate Order and Ground of Decision is passed by the Office of the Commissioner of Income Tax (Appeals) against the Order passed by the I.T.O.(TDS), Ward – I, Panaji u/s 201(1)/206C(6A) and 201(1A)/206C(7) for A.Yr. 2012-13 and 2013-14 relevant to F. Yr. 2011-12 and 2012-13 directing A.O. to delete the demand raised for TDS default.

f)    A project proposal and the cost amounting to Rs.25.00 lakhs to carry out the underwater survey i.e. Bathymetry, Side Scan Sonar, Sub-bottom Profiling, Scuba Diving at Candolim – Sinquerim at River Princess site after completion of cutting work is received from Chief Scientist A. K. Chaubey, NIO, Donapaula. 
 

9. Site inspection of shacks in Government and private property is in progress. Refund of shack fees of unsuccessful shack applicants is in progress.
 

10. As part of promotion of tourism Goa Tourism Development Corporation Ltd. as Special Purpose Vehicle has participated in domestic events viz. Wedding Carnival - Delhi, Sakal Travel Mart - Pune, TTF- Ahmadabad, and TTF – Surat.
 

11. The Department has carried out the following trade activities:

12. A large number of tourists domestic as well as foreign have continued to visit the State during the month of August, 2014.
