Progress Report for the month of October, 2014.

 

1.     More than 95% construction work of the Information Plaza at Patto-Panaji has been completed. 80% work of Multilevel Car Parking Plaza has been completed, 80% work of upgradation/renovation of Tourism Jetty has been completed & river cruise is being operated in the completed portion of the Jetty. 60% work of Baga Coastal Circuit development is completed. The work of Calangute – Candolim Circuit is in progress. The work of construction of Institute of Hotel Management & Catering Technology has begun.K.P.M.G. Services Pvt. Ltd. consortium with Tourism & Leisure Spain have been appointed for the preparation of Tourism Master Plan & Tourism Policy of Goa.
 
2.     The work of development, deployment, management, and operation of Water Safety Patrol almost throughout the coastline with State of Art facilities in the coastal waters of the State of Goa on turn key basis is in operation through M/s Drishti Lifesaving Pvt. Ltd, Donapaula.
 
3.     Patrolling on the beaches is being carried out by the IRB Police personnel deployed on the beaches of Goa.
 
4.     Beach Cleaning:Work Order has been issued to M/s Bhumika Transport led Consortium and M/s Ram on the beaches of Goa” for North Goa and South Goa, respectively, w.e.f. 1/9/2014. Engineering led Consortium for carrying out the work of “Comprehensive Management of Cleanliness. Information Assistants of Department   of Tourism have been directed on rotation basis to carry out the random inspection of the beach stretches to observe and report the activities being carried out on the entire beach stretches of the state of Goa from 20/10/2014 to 3/11/2014.
 
5.     River Princess:
A meeting of the Monitoring Committee meeting under the Chairmanship of Pr. Secretary (Tourism) was held on 25/09/2014 to discuss various issues regarding the removal of the vessel of M.V. “River Princess” wherein following points were discussed and decision were taken by the Committee:
a)   wreck removal process of  lifting the debris of M. V. River Princess has been started w.e.f. 4/10/2014 accordingly services of the M/s Goa Shipyard Ltd., Vasco has been availed w.e.f. 4/10/2014.
 
b)  A letter has been sent to NIO to carry out the underwater survey i.e.Bathymetry, Side Scan Sonar, Sub-bottom Profiling, Scuba Diving at Candolim – Sinquerim at River Princess site after completion of cutting work is received from Chief Scientist A. K. Chaubey, NIO, Donapaula and the said proposal has been submitted to Finance Department for Government approval and the same is awaited.
 
c)   Director Tourism informed the Committee members that the Bank Guarantee is renewed till 3rd December, 2014.
 
A report dated 14/10/2014, received from M/s Goa Shipyard Ltd., Vasco regarding salvage of approx. 265 Tons of scrap(with muck/sand/etc) of M.V. “River Princess” from 8/10/2014 to 12/10/2014.
6.        The Department has carried out the following trade activities:
