Progress Report for the month of January 2015.

 
1.           More than 96% construction work of the Information Plaza at Patto-Panaji has been completed. 80% work of Multilevel Car Parking Plaza has been completed, 80% work of upgradation/renovation of Tourism Jetty has been completed & river cruise is being operated in the completed portion of the Jetty. 70% work of Baga Coastal Circuit development is completed. The work of Calangute – Candolim Circuit is in progress. 10% work of construction of Institute of Hotel Management & Catering Technology is completed.K.P.M.G. Services Pvt. Ltd. consortiums with Tourism & Leisure, Spain have been appointed for the preparation of Tourism Master Plan & Tourism Policy of Goa.
 
2.           Government has administratively approved and financially sanctioned for the work of wiring of newly constructed toilet complex at Collem.
 
3.           The work of development, deployment, management, and operation of Water Safety Patrol almost throughout the coastline with State of Art facilities in the coastal waters of the State of Goa on turn key basis is in operation through M/s Drishti Lifesaving Pvt. Ltd, Donapaula.
 
4.           Patrolling on the beaches is being carried out by the IRB Police personnel deployed on the beaches of Goa.
 
5.           Beach Cleaning:Work Order has been issued to M/s Bhumika Transport led Consortium and M/s Ram on the beaches of Goa” for North Goa and South Goa, respectively, w.e.f. 1/9/2014. Engineering led Consortium for carrying out the work of “Comprehensive Management of Cleanliness. A committee of Information Assistant has been constituted to carry out the random inspection of the beach stretches to observe and report the activities being carried out on the entire beach stretches of the state of Goa. 
This Department has also formed two separate Departmental Committee of North and South Zone Office to have random inspections and observe the performance of Beach Cleaning Contractors of the concerned zone.
 
River Princess:
A underwater survey report was received from NIO, Donapaula and based on the report received a detailed presentation was made by the Dr. Chaubey, Chief Scientist, NIO in the meeting held on 6/1/2015.
          At the conclusion Dr. Chaubey informed that:
a)     Analysis of side scan sonar images shows that the seafloor in the wreck area in general, is devoid of any prominent obstacles and wrecks.
b)    Underwater visual inspection and videography revealed a metallic plate protruding out from the seabed near the slope of the Hole -1 (Dive location DN1). The dimension of the protruding plate is one foot high and half foot wide. Another metallic object, protruding horizontally, was on the seabed about 2m away from the first metallic object.
c)     The depth of burial and quantity of ferrous metal could not be ascertained in their study, but some indication is that it may be buried 3 to 6m below the seabed at some places, and even shallower at others.
Further, the Chairman of the Committee mentioned to M/s Arihant Shipping that the object lying in the seabed has to be removed for which the contractor mentioned that magnetometry survey/prop wash will be conducted/done by them and will dealt with the object at the same time so also to ensure that the shipwreck is completely removed.
 
Beach Shacks:This department carried out night patrolling on 9/01/2015 & 24/01/2015 at Calangute & Baga beach. The materials confiscated are Hookhas, & some electrical items such as leaser torch, balls & hand ring. The issuing of deck beds licenses on the beach is in progress.
6.     As part of promotion in domestic market, Goa Tourism Development Corporation Ltd. as Special Purpose Vehicle has participated in TTF -Chennai, TTF - Banglore, IITM - Cochin, Lagan Mandap - Jaipur, IITT - Mumbai, Grape Escapade - 2015, Kite festival by Abhay Patil Belgavi and Super Kite Festival by Sakal Media respectively.
7.     The Department has carried out the following trade activities:
