Progress Report for the month of February, 2012

1.    The work of Information Plaza at Patto, Panaji is in progress. The tenders received for Multilevel Car Parking are under scrutiny. We are proposing to lay foundation stone for second Institute of Hotel Management & Catering Technology at Farmagudi either in the last week of March 2012 or in the 1st week of April 2012. The work of development / upgradation of Harvalem Waterfall is scheduled to completed by March, 2012.

2.    The work of development, deployment, management and operation of a water safety patrol almost throughout the coastline with State of Art facilities in the coastal waters of the State of Goa on turn key basis is in operation through M/S DRISHTI SPECIAL RESPONSE SERVICES PRIVATE LIMITED, Dona Paula.

3.    The work of Safety/Security Night Patrol Contract awarded to M/s DRISHTI SPECIAL RESPONSE SERVICES PRIVATE LIMITED has been extended for further 12 months i.e. till March 2012. Further extension for one more year is also proposed.

4.    Department has invited fresh Tenders for Beach Cleaning for the period from 1st August 2011 to 31st July 2012 and accepted the tenders by selecting the lowest bidders for 9 beach stretches i.e. N-2 Arambol, Mandrem, Morjim Beach Stretches, N-3 – Vagator, Vozrant, Anjuna Beach Stretches, N-4 Baga to Sinquerim & Nerul Beach Stretches, N-5- Miramar, Caranzalem, Bambolim, Siridao Beach Stretches, S-1 – Baina, Bogmalo Beach, S-2- Velsao, Arrosim, Utorda, Majorda Beach Stretches, S-3 – Sernabatim, Betalbatim, Colva, Benaulim Beach Stretches, S-4 – Zalor, Fatrade, Varca, Cavelossim Beach Stretches, S-5 – Agonda, Palolem, Patnem, Rajbag, Talpona, Galgibaga Beach Stretches. The approval of the  Government has been obtained and accordingly commencement letters were issued to the Contractor for 9 beach stretches for the work of cleaning the beach areas,, nearby envirn., roads and accesses through the beach by removal of organic and inorganic wastes, including transportation, disposal and maintain cleanliness on the beaches throughout the day from December 2011 to November 2012.

5.    “M.V. River Princess”. In pursuance to the Notification issued by Superintendent of Customs, Office of the Commissioner of Central Excise & Customs, Panaji-Goa declaring Chapora Port as a landing place for the purpose of ship breaking of the vessel M.V. “River Princess”.  A letter dated 18.01.2012 is sent to M/s Arihant Ship Breakers, Mumbai to resume the cutting work of the vessel M.V.” River Princess” and accordingly on 23.01.2012 the Contractor M/s Arihant Ship Breakers, Mumbai started the cutting work of the vessel. It is informed that the scrap of the vessel was offloaded at the designated scrapyard identified at Bainguinim, Old Goa.

6.    342 nos. Shack permission in Government property have been issued. Permission for Water Sport Shed, Deck-Beds for Hotelier and unemployed local youths is in process.

7.    The  DD’s of unsuccessful Shack applicants (unsuccessful in getting shacks) in Government properties has been dispatched.

8.    The fee of all successful shack allottees has been deposited to Government Treasury.

9.    As part of promotional activities in domestic market, Department has participated at India Travel Mart held from 3rd to 5th February 2012 at Chandigarh, Punjab &  SATTE 2012 held from 10th to 12th February 2012 at New Delhi.
