Progress Report for the month of April, 2012

1.    The work of Information Plaza at Patto-Panaji is in progress.

2.    The work of development, deployment, management and operation of a water safety patrol almost throughout the coastline with State of Art facilities in the coastal waters of the State of Goa on turn key basis is in operation through M/S DRISHTI SPECIAL RESPONSE SERVICES PRIVATE LIMITED, Dona Paula.

3.    The work of Safety/Security Night Patrol Contract awarded to M/s DRISHTI SPECIAL RESPONSE SERVICES PRIVATE LIMITED has been extended for further 12 months i.e. till March 2012.

4.    “M.V. River Princess”. On 23/01/2012, the Contractor M/s Arihant Ship Breakers, Mumbai restarted the cutting work of the vessel M.V. “River Princess” and the scrap was offloaded at the designated scrapyard identified at Bainguinim, Old-Goa. The awaited weather report/the data were received from the Meteorological Department w.e.f.23.03.2011 to 04.06.2011 & from 23.01.2012 to 29.02.2012. Further, the Deputy Director General of Meteorology (Technical Section), Mumbai is requested to send the weather report w.e.f.01.03.2012 to 30.04.2012.

An inspection of the vessel M.V. “River Princess” at Candolim-Sinquerim  beach was carried out on 07.04.2012 at 11.30 a.m. by Collector Shri R.Mihir Vardhan (North), Director of Tourism Shri Swapnil M. Naik, Shri Fermino Fernandes, Convener, River Princess Hatao Manch, Candolim, representative of M/s Arihant Ship Breakers, Mumbai wherein the captain of M/s Arihant Ship Breakers, Mumbai stated that around 10 to 15% of the cutting work of the vessel is remaining. He also started that if the weather conditions are favourable, then the work of wreck removal would be completed by the second week of May 2012.

Further, it is informed that the Contractor has furnished the extended Bank Guarantee for an amount of Rs.10.00 crores which is valid upto 15.06.2012 issued by Punjab National Bank through Branch Office at Linking Road, Santacruz (W), Mumbai on behalf of M/s Arihant Ship Breakers, Mumbai.

5.    Confiscation of deck-beds and demolitions of illegal shacks on the beaches in the State is in progress.
