Progress Report for the month of October, 2015.
 
1.   The work of the Information Plaza at Patto-Panaji has been completed. 95% work of Multilevel Car Parking Plaza has been completed, 95% work of upgradation/renovation of Tourism Jetty has been completed & river cruise is being operated in the completed portion of the Jetty. 70% work of Baga Coastal Circuit development is completed. The work of Calangute – Candolim Circuit is in progress. 90% work of Beautification of Saligao and Parra Road from CH 1000-2200 mtrs and left out components of the beautification of Mega Tourism Circuit Development of Saligao and Parra. Mega Tourism Circuit Development of Calangute Candolim Sangolda & Anjuna Reg: Beautification of Saligao road & Pathway including construction of traffic Island and Construction of pathway from O’Coquerio Circle to Amrekarnath temple has been completed.
2.   There is lot of demand for skilled and unskilled manpower in hotel industry, however due to lack of Institutes in training them, the Government could not cater to the needs of hotel industry therefore Government has taken the project of    Second Institute of Hotel Management & Catering Technology at Farmagudi in collaboration with Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, New Delhi and Phase I- comprising of main building has been tendered and work has been started at Farmagudi. About 20% work has been completed.
3.   Government has administratively approved & financially sanctioned the work of repairs/ replacement of aesthetic  façade illumination provided to St. Jerome’s Church (Milagres Church), Mapusa – Goa and towards  “supply, erection,testing  and commissioning of 16 mtrs. High Mast Light with LED floodlight luminaries at Jagadguru  Narendracharya Sausthan, Old Goa”.
4.   The work of development, deployment, management, and operation of Water Safety Patrol almost throughout the coastline with State of Art facilities in the coastal waters of the State of Goa on turn key basis is in operation through M/s Drishti Lifesaving Pvt. Ltd, Donapaula.
5.   Patrolling on the beaches is being carried out by the IRB Police personnel deployed on the beaches of Goa.
6.   Single Window System
Government has granted permission to sixteen minor events under Single Window system and total revenue of Rs.2,27,000/- has been collected.
7.   Beach Cleaning:TheDepartment has entered into contracts with private service providers for the comprehensive management of cleanliness on the beaches of Goa with a vision to provide clean and hygienic beaches for the general public and the tourists visiting the state. The cleaning of beaches is done by the Department through M/s Bhumika Transport led Consortium and M/s Ram on the beaches of Goa” for North Goa and South Goa, respectively, w.e.f. 1/9/2014. A committee of Information Assistant has been constituted to carry out the random inspection of the beach stretches to observe and report the maintenance of the cleanliness of the entire beach stretches, verification of  number of labourers deployed/ present on each beach stretches by the contractors, placement of dustbins etc.
8.   River Princess:
The Monitoring Committee unanimously decided that in view of the expert reports, (reports from Indian School of Mines Dhanbad, CSIR National Geophysical Research Institute Hyderabad Goa Bio Diversity Board, etc.) the work of removal of wreck River Princess may be treated as completed by the Contractor M/s Arihant Ship Breakers. The Committee further decided to forward a report to the Government in this regards for further necessary action in the matter. The Committee concluded that the task of the Monitoring Committee is completed in view of the above conclusion arrived at, and forwarding the report to the Government; the Monitoring Committee can be wound up.
9.   Beach Shacks:Work of renewal of Beach Shack licenses for the touristic season 2015-16 has been commenced from 17/08/2015. Also, renewal of deck beds licenses for the touristic season 2015-16 is in process.
10.       As part of promotion in domestic and international market, Goa Tourism Development Corporation Ltd. as Special Purpose Vehicle has participated in TTF – Pune, Roadshow at Australia, ITB – Asia Singapore respectively.
