Progress Report for the month of November 2015.   
1.   The following are the details/status of tourism infrastructure projects carried out by the Department through GTDC.

2.   There is lot of demand for skilled and unskilled manpower in hotel industry, however due to lack of Institutes in training them, the Government could not cater to the needs of hotel industry therefore Government has taken the project of    Second Institute of Hotel Management & Catering Technology at Farmagudi in collaboration with Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, New Delhi and Phase I- comprising of main building has been tendered and work has been started at Farmagudi. About 20% work has been completed.
3.   Government has administratively approved & financially sanctioned the following works:-
a)   Work of supply, installation, testing & commissioning of 20 mtrs. High Mast near Mahadev Temple at Assolda in Curchorem Constituency.
b)  Work of providing additional aesthetic illumination of Shree Devi Mauli (Shantadurga) Temple, Varkhand, Pernem-Goa.
4.   The work of development, deployment, management, and operation of Water Safety Patrol almost throughout the coastline with State of Art facilities in the coastal waters of the State of Goa on turn key basis is in operation through M/s Drishti Lifesaving Pvt. Ltd, Donapaula.
5.   Patrolling on the beaches is being carried out by the IRB Police personnel deployed on the beaches of Goa.
6.   Beach Cleaning:Work Order has been issued to M/s Bhumika Transport led Consortium and M/s Ram Engineering and Construction Company led consortium on the beaches of Goa” for North Goa and South Goa, respectively, w.e.f. 1/9/2014. Engineering led Consortium for carrying out the work of “Comprehensive Management of Cleanliness. i) Orders are issued to a batch of eight Information Assistantsof this Departmentto carry out weekly inspections of the beach stretches assigned to them from time to time.ii) Order is issued to all the Assistant Tourist Officers of the Department, to carry out weekly beach inspections. iii) Order is also issued to Asstt. Directors to carry out beach inspections fortnightly.iv) Intensive daily inspections of beach stretches of North & South Goa are being carried out by the Officials vis-à-vis Information Assistant and Supervisor of this Department.
 
 
7.   River Princess:
As per the minutes of the meeting held on 4/9/2015; the Monitoring Committee unanimously decided that in view of the expert reports, the work of removal of wreck River Princess may be treated as completed by the Contractor M/s Arihant Ship Breakers. The Committee further decided to forward a report to the Government for further necessary action in the matter.
In view of the Monitoring Committee’s decision, a detailed note was processed to the Government regarding issuing: 
1)    Completion certificate to the contractor M/s Arihant Ship Breakers certifying that the work of removal of wreck debris of M.V. River Princess is completed.
2)    Releasing the Bank Guarantee No. 128IILG002213 dated 03/12/2014 for an amount of  `7,50,00,000/- and Bank Guarantee No. 1281ILG002313 dated 03/12/2014 for an amount of `2,50,00,000/- deposited by the contractor with the Department of Tourism.
3)    Releasing payment towards the bills submitted by the contractor.
The matter was also referred to the Ld. AG to seek legal opinion and after obtaining Ld. AG’s opinion the Monitoring Committee issued Completion Certificate to the contractor on 18/11/2015 and thereafter the Performance Bank Guarantee amounting to `10.00 crores to be released.
Beach Shacks:The work of distribution of licenses for Beach Shack and permission for deck beds for touristic season 2015-16 is in process.
8.   As part of promotion in domestic and international market, Goa Tourism Development Corporation Ltd. as Special Purpose Vehicle has participated in WTM London, held from 2nd Nov to 5th Nov 2015 Road Show at Washington, on 6th Nov 2015 India International Trade Fair 2015-Delhi Pragati Maidan respectively.
9.   The Department has carried out the following trade activities:
