Progress Report for the month of January 2016.     
1.       The following are the details/status of tourism infrastructure projects carried out by the Department through GTDC.

d) Repairs and Maintenance of Highmast at Chicalim road junction, Betalbatim (near primary school and panchayat), Nr. Shantadurga fatorpa,Benaulim Beach,shiroda Bazzar & Fatorda near swimming pool. Work Completed.
8 Upgradation/Beautification of Tourist places in Quepem Taluka.

2.       There is lot of demand for skilled and unskilled manpower in hotel industry, however due to lack of Institutes in training them, the Government could not cater to the needs of hotel industry therefore Government has taken the project of    Second Institute of Hotel Management & Catering Technology at Farmagudi in collaboration with Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, New Delhi and Phase I- comprising of main building has been tendered and work has been started at Farmagudi. About 25% work has been completed.
3.       Government has administratively approved & financially sanctioned the following works:-
i)     Work of supply, erection, testing & commissioning of 02 nos. of 20 mtrs. H.M.L. and 10 nos.of Blenhelm Poles with Keselec Luminaries at the Baina Beach.
4.           The work of development, deployment, management, and operation of Water Safety Patrol almost throughout the coastline with State of Art facilities in the coastal waters of the State of Goa on turn key basis is in operation through M/s Drishti Lifesaving Pvt. Ltd, Donapaula.
5.           Patrolling on the beaches is being carried out by the IRB Police personnel deployed on the beaches of Goa.
6.           Single Window System
Department has granted permission to 28 minor events and 02 major events under Single Window system and total revenue of Rs.2,03,74,000/- has been collected for a period from 25/12/2015 to 24/1/2016.
7.           Beach Cleaning:The work of “Comprehensive Management of Cleanliness” is in operation through M/s Bhumika Cleantech Services Pvt. Ltd. and M/s Ram Cleansers & Developers Pvt. Ltd., on the beaches of Goa” for North Goa and South Goa, respectively. The total contract period is for five years, renewed after 15 months if the Monitoring Committee members are satisfied with the work of the contractors. The Contractor completed 15 months on 7/12/2015.
i)Orders are issued to a batch of eight Information Assistantsof this Departmentto carry out weekly inspections of the beach stretches assigned to them from time to time.ii) Order is issued to all the Assistant Tourist Officers of the Department, to carry out weekly beach inspections. iii) Order is issued to Asstt. Directors to carry out beach inspections fortnightly.iv) Intensive daily inspections of beach stretches of North & South Goa are being carried out by the Officials vis-à-vis Information Assistant and Supervisor of this Department.
The said contract has completed 15 months on 7/12/2015; therefore, a detailed note is processed to Government for decision regarding extending the said beach cleaning contract.
8.           River Princess:
After seeking Administrative Approval and legal opinion of Ld. AG regarding issuing completion certificate to the contractor M/s Arihant Ship Breakers and regarding releasing the Bank Guarantee amounting to `10.00 crores deposited by the contractor with the Department of Tourism may please be perused.
On 18/11/2015; the Monitoring Committee constituted by the Government, issued Completion Certificate to the contractor and thereafter the Performance Bank Guarantee amounting to `10.00 crores was released.
The details of the Invoices submitted by the Contractor are:
a)     Invoice for an amount of `111,23,64,000/- (Rupees hundred and eleven crores twenty three lakhs sixty four thousand Only) including of all taxes towards the bid amount as per the Agreement (ie. towards the cutting and removing the vessel M.V. “River Princess”).
b)    Invoice towards plot rent to Samraat Marine Services, Goa on behalf of the Government amounting to `4,87,64,240/-.
c)     The contractor has raised an invoice amounting to `52,38,62,970/- (Rupees Fifty two crores thirty eight lakhs sixty two thousand nine hundred and seventy only) towards extra salvage of material as represented and warranted by Government of Goa.
d)    An amount of `3,18,54,601/- (Rupees three crores eighteen lakhs fifty four thousand six hundred and one only) towards demurrage incurred due to non availability of landing site to be provided by Government.
In this regard, a detailed note is processed to the Government for appropriate decision with respect to release of payment towards the above invoices/bills.
With regard to the payment towards the cutting and removing the vessel M.V. “River Princess” amounting to `111,23,64,000/-, Further, Government has partly approved releasing `84.00crores in 12 installments of `7.00 crores each during this Financial year 2015-2016; accordingly bills towards the payment of `84.00crores have been submitted to the Directorate of Accounts.
Beach Shacks:The work of distribution of licenses for Beach Shack has already been completed. 10 pairs of deck beds are been permitted to the Shack owners in the Government property after payment of requisite fees. Permissions are issued to unemployed youths for placement of deck beds/umbrellas on the beaches who had past experience after payment of requisite fees as per the policy 2013-16. Issue of licenses for hoteliers for placement of deck beds/umbrellas as per the policy 2013-16 are in process
9.       The Department has carried out the following trade activities:
