Goa puts up an impressive show at Bharat Parv

Panjim, 12 Aug:Goa Tourism   and Goa Tourism  Development Corporation along with other State government  departments of Art and  Culture, Information and  Publicity and  Handicrafts Corporation put up an  impressive  show at  Bharat Parv, a six day Patriotic  Festival  being organized  by the Government  of India from August 12-18, in the national capital as part of the Independence  Day  celebrations  2016.
 
The Defence Minister, Mr. Manohar Parrikar, inaugurated the fest on Friday evening at the Rajpath Lawns, India Gate, New Delhi in the presence of distinguished dignitaries. Union Ministers Venkaiah Naidu and Dr. Mahesh Sharma were also present. The Union Ministry of Tourism has been designated as the nodal ministry for the event.
 
Goa’s pavilion at Bharat Parv was a great attraction and around 50 participants showcased Goa’s rich art and cultural heritage. Goa’s tourism initiatives, products and facets were prominently displayed and received an overwhelming response. Folk dances, Goan music and cultural heritage were presented during the six day event and enthralled the audience.
 
The prime objective of the event is to generate a patriotic mood, promote the rich cultural diversity of the country and to ensure wider participation of the general public.
 
Participating States and UTs included Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh Assam, Chhattisgarh, Daman and Diu and Dadra  Nagari Haveli, Goa, Gujarat, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Kerala,  Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Uttarakhand, and Uttar Pradesh, Odisha,  Punjab, Rajasthan, Sikkim,  Tamil Nadu,  and Telangana.
 
Goa’s pavilion was one among the 17 theme state pavilions where each state showcased their achievements and initiatives and tourism products and destinations. A crafts mela showcasing diverse handicrafts of the country was also part of the event. Likewise, a multi cuisine food court showcasing food and cuisine from different regions of India also drew large crowds.
