Progress Report for the month of October, 2012


1. Foundation stone for the project “Construction of Jetty and Multilevel Car Parking” was laid on 24.10.2012 at 10.00 a.m by Hon’ble Chief Minister, Shri Manohar Parrikar, in distinguished presence of Shri Dilip Parulekar, Minister for Tourism, Shri Nilesh Cabral, MLA (Curchorem) and Chairman GTDC Ltd. and Smt. Vaidehi Naik Mayor, Corporation of City of Panjim.


2. The work of Information Plaza at Patto has been completed upto 70%.  


3. Department is proposing the appointment of panel of Architect/Consultant for preparing and supervising Detailed Project Report for Central Financial Assistance Projects.


4. Department is proposing  to cover few more places of touristic interest under the scheme of aesthetic façade illumination. Similarly erection of High Mast light are also proposed at few more places.


5. The work of development, deployment, management and operation of a water safety patrol almost throughout the coastline with State of Art facilities in the coastal waters of the State of Goa on turn key basis is in operation through M/S DRISHTI SPECIAL RESPONSE SERVICES PRIVATE LIMITED, Dona Paula.                                                                      


6. The services of M/S DRISHTI SPECIAL RESPONSE SERVICES PRIVATE LIMITED of Safety/Security Night Patrol ended on 30th September 2012. The IRB Police personnel have been deployed on the beaches of Goa for patrolling.  


7. Since the beach cleaning contract was valid upto 31st July 2012, the Department extended the said contract for further period of 3 months (i.e. upto 31st October 2012). Further, after obtaining administrative approval the file was submitted to the Government for obtaining Expenditure sanction, upon which the Finance Department agreed to extend the contract of Beach cleaning till December 2012. Accordingly, preparation of extension letter to the contractors are in process.


8. “M. V. River Princess”:   

In response to the meeting held on 09/08/2012 the report/ data and charts  received from by M/s New Horizon Surveys (I) Pvt. Ltd., Mumbai regarding underwater survey carried out after removal of wreck of M.V. “River Princess” were submitted to  Dr. AK Chaubey, Scientist “G” and Cdr. R.M. Thomas, National Institute of Hydrographic,(NIH) Vasco-Da-Gama. Further, on recommendation from Dr. A. K. Chaubey the discrepancies as raised by scientist were got rectified from M/s New Horizon Surveys (I) Pvt. Ltd., Mumbai and the same is forwarded directly to NHO Dehradun. Magnetometer operation was fixed on 2/06/2012 to detect metal below the surface of the seabed; however, the experts could not complete the survey in full, due to rough weather condition. Government has decided that the said operation would be taken up immediately after the monsoon period and it is now fixed from 25th October to 28th October 2012.


9. Draw of lots for Beach Shack for the tourist season 2012-13 was held on 17/10/2012 & 18/10/2012 for North & South Goa beach stretches respectively. This Department has allotted 237 shacks for North & 106 shacks for South Goa and accordingly, demarcation process for North & South Goa is in process.


10. As part of promotional activities in overseas markets, Department has participated in ITB – Asia 2012 held from 17th to 19th October, 2012 at Singapore.


11. As part of promotional activities in domestic markets, Department has participated at “Hindu Discover India” held from 6th to 7th October at Chennai; India International Travel Exhibition held from 5th to 7th October 2012 at Indore.
