Progress Report for the month of July, 2013.


1.   The works of Information Plaza at Patto, Upgradation/ Construction of Jetty at Patto, Multilevel Car Parking Project at Patto, Baga Coastal Circuit, Toilet Block at Calangute, Toilet Block near Shree Chandreshwar bhutnath temple at Parvat Paroda and Beautification of Bandodkar Statue at Calangute are in progress.


2.   Government has administratively approved Land Acquisition at Salve, Pilerne for development of Salve spring as part of Hinterland Tourism. Similarly Government has also approved land acquisition at Velsao Beach for providing parking and toilet facilities. Likewise Government has sanctioned High Mast Lights at Ribander Patto, Biana Beach & upgradation of street light at Biana Beach.


3.   The work of development, deployment, management, and operation of a water safety patrol almost throughout the coastline with State of Art facilities in the coastal waters of the State of Goa on turn key basis is in operation through M/S DRISHTI SPECIAL RESPONSE SERVICES PRIVATE LIMITED, Dona Paula. The period of Water Safety Patrol contract has been extended up till 31/7/2013. Also proposal has been moved to Government to extend the contract for further period till 30/09/2013, however, approval for the same is still awaited.


4.   Patrolling on the beaches is being carried out by the IRB Police personnel deployed on the beaches of Goa.


5.   This Department is in process of re-tendering the work of “Integrated Lifeguarding Services” as per the decision of the Government.


6.   This Department has invited tender on 18/7/2013 for Comprehensive management of cleanliness at the beaches of Goa. The last date for submitting the tender document is on 23/8/2013 upto 3.30 p.m.. The existing beach cleaning contractors are requested to carry out the beach cleaning work. The proposal for extension of the existing beach cleaning contract for next three months i.e. upto September 2013 is submitted for Administrative approval and Expenditure sanction.


7.   “M. V. River Princess”:   


A detailed Note on the present condition of the vessel M. V. River Princess and the permissions/no objection received from the various departments with respect to removal of the vessel has been submitted to the Office of Asst. Commissioner of Customs & Central Excise, Patto, Panaji – Goa, requesting them to grant necessary permissions to remove the buried wreck, valid till 31st March 2014. However, the permission from the Custom Department is awaited.


After obtaining the approval of the Principal Secretary (Revenue/Chairman of Monitoring Committee), the Sub-Committee was constituted to evaluate the suitability of landing site to unload the scarp material of the vessel M.V. “River Princess” and to submit the inspection report to the Monitoring Committee.


Subsequently, an inspection of the landing space/site was carried out by the Sub- Committee on 19/7/2013 at 3.30 p.m. and the inspection report is awaited.


8.   Refund of Security deposit of the successful shack allottees is in process. Beach Shack Policy for the next touristic season 2013-14 is in process.


9.   As part of promotion in domestic market, Goa Tourism Development Corporation Ltd as Special Purpose Vehicle has organized Roadshows at Ahmedabad & Gandhinagar, Chenai & Kanchipuram,Trivendrum & Cochi,Hyderabad &Vizag and also participated in Travel & Tourism Fair, Kolkata. Further in order to create awareness advertisement was release in print media Campaing in Dainik Jagran and Lifestyle Living Magazine.
