Progress Report for the month of August, 2013.


1.      The works of Information Plaza at Patto, Upgradation/ Construction of Jetty at Patto, Multilevel Car Parking Project at Patto, Baga Coastal Circuit, Toilet Block at Calangute, Toilet Block near Shree Chandreshwar bhutnath temple at Parvat Paroda and Beautification of Bandodkar Statue at Calangute are in progress.


2.      Government has administratively approved Land Acquisition at Salve, Pilerne for development of Salve spring as part of Hinterland Tourism. Similarly Government has also approved land acquisition at Velsao Beach for providing parking and toilet facilities. Likewise Government has sanctioned High Mast Lights at Ribander Patto, Biana Beach & upgradation of street light at Biana Beach.


3.      Government has administratively approved the work of supply & installation of electrical materials for the illumination work of Shree Ganesh Temple, Bogda in Mormugao and Our Lady of Destero Church in Mormugao.


4.     The work of illumination of Shree Sai Baba temple at Dadachiwadi, Dhargal in Pernem and Shree Gajantlaxmi Temple, Volvoi, Ponda- Goa are in progress.


5.       Revenue Department has issued Notification under section 4 of the Land Acquisition Act 1894 for land admeasuring 3150 Sq. mtrs. for providing basic facilities at Bogmalo beach. Preliminary survey has been carried out on 22/08/2013.


6.       The work of development, deployment, management, and operation of a water safety patrol almost throughout the coastline with State of Art facilities in the coastal waters of the State of Goa on turn key basis is in operation through M/S DRISHTI SPECIAL RESPONSE SERVICES PRIVATE LIMITED, Dona Paula. The period of Water Safety Patrol contract has been extended up till 30/9/2013.


7.        Patrolling on the beaches is being carried out by the IRB Police personnel deployed on the beaches of Goa.


8.       This Department is in process of re-tendering the work of “Integrated Lifeguarding Services” as per the decision of the Government.


9.      This Department has floated two separate tenders for Comprehensive management of cleanliness for North and South Goa beach stretches. In response to the said tender this Department has received 8 requests for North and 11 for South Goa for online tender documents. The pre bid conference in this regard was fixed on 23/8/2013 at 11.00 a.m. at Secretariat, Porvorim. The existing beach cleaning contractors are requested to carry out the beach cleaning work upto 30/9/2013. The Administrative approval and Expenditure sanction for the same is obtained by this Department.


10.     “M. V. River Princess”:   

A detailed Note on the present condition of the vessel M. V. River Princess and the permissions/no objection received from the various Departments with respect to removal of the vessel has been submitted to the Office of Asst. Commissioner of Customs & Central Excise, Patto, Panaji – Goa, requesting them to grant necessary permissions to remove the buried wreck, valid till 31st March 2014. However, the permission from the Custom Department is awaited.


After obtaining the approval of the Principal Secretary (Revenue/Chairman of Monitoring Committee), the Sub-Committee was constituted to evaluate the suitability of landing site to unload the scarp material of the vessel M.V. “River Princess” and to submit the inspection report to the Monitoring Committee.


Subsequently, an inspection of the landing space/site was carried out by the Sub-Committee on 19/7/2013 at 3.30 p.m. and the inspection report is awaited.


11.     Refund of Security deposit of the successful shack allottees,      confiscation of illegal beds, chairs is in process. Beach Shack Policy for the next touristic season is in process.


12.     As part of promotion in domestic and international market, Goa Tourism Development Corporation Ltd as Special Purpose Vehicle has organized Roadshows at Kolkata & Howrah, and Sydney & Auckland respectively.
