Progress Report for the month of October, 2013.


1.   More than 80% construction work of the Information Plaza at Patto-Panaji has been completed. 30% work of Multilevel Car Parking Plaza has been completed, 50% work of upgradation/renovation of Tourism Jetty has been completed & 80% work of “Beautification of Bandodkar Statue” and Toilet Block at Calangute has been completed.


2.   Government has Administratively Approved and financially sanctioned for installation of 20 Mtrs. High Mast Light at Codli Tisk, Dabal in Village Panchayat Kirlapal-Dabal in Sarvordem Constituency.


3.   Government has Administratively Approved the improvement of road near Tourist cottages and Ganpati Temple, development of parking places near Tourist cottages, construction of road site retaining wall near Tourist cottages at Farmagudi in Marcaim Constituency.


4.   Demonstration of new C-Form Module software designed by Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, New Delhi has been conducted for hoteliers and members of TTAG. The first training was held in Hotel Mandovi on 10.10.2013, second training was held in  Mapusa Residency, Mapusa, Bardez-Goa on 21.10.2013 for North Goa hoteliers and next training fixed on 25/10/2013 in the Black Box Hall of Ravindra Bhavan, Margao for South Goa hoteliers.


5.   The work of development, deployment, management, and operation of a Water Safety Patrol almost throughout the coastline with State of Art facilities in the coastal waters of the State of Goa on turn key basis is in operation through M/S Drishti Special Response Services Private Limited, Dona Paula. The period of Water Safety Patrol contract has been extended up till 31/10/2013.


6.   Patrolling on the beaches is being carried out by the IRB Police personnel deployed on the beaches of Goa.


7.    In response to the tender floated for providing beach lifeguard and safety services on the beaches of Goa, the Department is in receipt of online request for issue of tender document from five bidders. The Pre-bid conference was fixed on 23.10.2013 at 3.30 p.m., however the scheduled date of Pre-bid conference and online submission of tender document has been postponed, and corrigendum informing the same has been uploaded on the e-tender website.

8.    The opening of the Technical bid with regard to the tender for “Comprehensive Management of Cleanliness at beach stretches of Goa” was held on 20.09.2013. Subsequently, the scrutiny/evaluation of the Technical Bid is done and the same is being placed before the Tender Evaluation Cum Selection Committee.


9.   River Princess.

Sub-Committee constituted to evaluating the suitability of landing site to unload the scrap material of the vessel M.V. “River Princess” submitted its inspection report and the same is being placed before the Monitoring Committee.


Due to non-submitting of the Bank Guarantee, a reminder letter was sent to the contractor to renew the Performance Bank Guarantee. However, a letter was received from the contractor informing that their bank shall be in a position to issue the bank guarantee by end of October 2013 and the full schedule/list of equipments to be mobilized shall be submitted in the middle of October, 2013. A detailed note is submitted to the Principal Secretary (Tourism) for conveying next Monitoring Committee meeting.


10. Draw of lots for allotment of beach shacks for the tourist season 2013-2016 was held on 14/10/2013 & 16/10/2013 for the tourist season 2013-16 for North and South Goa beaches respectively wherein this Department has allotted 241 nos. of Shacks for North Goa and 99 nos. of shacks on South Goa beaches. The work of demarcation of site is in process.
