Designer clothes, many of which are now being made in India are a popular shopping item with the tourists visiting Goa.

There are shops and boutiques selling fashion items from around the world, including leather goods at most popular tourist spots in the state.

All Western brand names are substantially cheaper than in the West, and books are also at bargain prices. Consequently, foreign tourists looking to get the best value for their currency make a beeline for such shops.
 

There are a number of brand name outlets in Panaji and the Calangute beach area - including Nike, Levi's, Lacoste, Benetton, Lee and Reebok. These offer excellent prices which according to foreign tourists are as much as a third less than in their own countries.

 

There are also quite a few local boutiques, operated by either locals or designers from other states who have made Goa their home or place of business.
