Govt nod for new tourism complex

The tourism ministry in Goa has given the nod for Paryatan Bhavan (Tourism Bhavan) a mega project that brings all stakeholders in the tourism industry under one roof. The Rs 30 crore project is proposed to be built at Patto which currently houses the State tourism department. The new complex will house the Tourism Department, State Tourism Corporation, offices of travel agencies, tour operators, airline offices and tourism boards of other States.

The office of the Central tourism ministry is also proposed to be located at the Paryatan Bhavan.

The Paryatan Bhavan will provide all tourism related services, facilities, information to facilitate domestic and foreign tourists visiting the state.

Officials sources say that the project estimated to cost Rs 30 crore will be undertaken by the Goa Tourism Development Corporation (GTDC) from grant-in-aid by the state tourism ministry.

The plans for the project are under preparation and tenders are likely to be issued shortly.(courtesy oheraldo.in)
