GTDC sponsors trip for cancer affected children


·       GTDC  hosts  32 children  undergoing treatment  at the  Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai
·       Sponsors  accommodation at  GTDC  residency, food, tour and sightseeing in Goa
·       Special boat cruise  organized  on Santa  Monica
Panjim, November 19, 2015: Goa Tourism Development  Corporation (GTDC) played host to  32 children  affected with cancer and undergoing treatment  in  Mumbai, providing them a  three day fun-filled  holiday along with  theirparents and doctors here in Goa.
The  children arrived in Goa on  18th November  by train from  Mumbai and were enthralled  by special hospitality arrangements  made by the  GTDC.
According to  officials  of the GTDC,   the children  were  taken  on special guided tours of  important tourist spots  in North and South Goa. These included the sandy shores of Calangute and  Miramar    and visit to  temples and churches at Mangueshi and Old Goa respectively.
A special one hour boat cruise on Santa Monica was also arranged  along  River Mandovi and  a  Goan  cultural programme was presented to the  special visitors on board the cruise  vessel.
The   Chairman of GTDC Nilesh Cabral said, “We   provided  all the facilities  that  the  children  needed  during their stay in Goa and ensured that  they had a  truly enjoyable  stay.”
The  Goa Tourism Development   Corporation organizes  holidays  for  special  children as part of the   Corporate  Social Responsibility . “Most of the  children are undergoing   treatment for  cancer at various  stages at the Tata Memorial  Hospital, Mumbai and  providing  them  with  a   splendid holiday adds   positivity and  cheer to life,”  the  GTDC  Chairman said.
Interacting with staff from the GTDC, the children expressed delight on being in Goa and expressed  their gratitude to the GTDC for providing them a memorable holiday.
Goa tourism officials Gavin Dias – Dy. General Manager (Mktg), Deepak Narvekar -  Public Relations  Officer  and Dilip Shetye – Asst. Manager (Cruises) were present for the   interaction with the  children  on Santa  Monica.  The  cultural programme  on board Santa  Monica was  presented  by the Goa  Culture Guild. Shri. Suraj Naik, OSD  to Union Minister of State for Ayush and Santosh Sherwade  - Public Relations Officer of Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai were also  present.
