Chief Minister Parrikar to chair high-level meeting on 11th Sept. with officials and stakeholders to deliberate on serious issues concerning tourism


 
Panjim, 10 September:A high level meeting has been  convened on Monday, 11th September 2017,  and  will be chaired by the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Goa, Mr. Manohar Parrikar along with  Hon’ble Minister for Tourism, Mr. Manohar Ajgaonkar, Chief Secretary Mr. Dharmendra Sharma,  with tourism stakeholders to  deliberate and  chalk out an action plan which will strongly curb  various nuisances and  unprecedented  incidents  of drownings, brawls, drunken driving etc happening in the state of  Goa.
 
The meeting will be attended by top senior bureaucrats, senior officials from various departments including the Goa police and representatives of various tourism associations in the State.
 
The meeting has been  convened  in the wake of various  incidents of  drowning deaths of tourists venturing into the sea  and rivers after sunset,  un-regulation  of  study tours and  absence of monitoring  of students  on tours  by teachers, swimming in the sea and  water bodies  near  various tourist destinations  under the influence of  alcohol,  spate of  brawls between  tourists and locals,  deaths due to rash and drunken driving etc.
 
The meeting will discuss and deliberate on an action plan of framing guidelines to control the above-referred issues and for enacting a law for controlling indiscipline on the beaches and other aspects.
 
If one recalls, the  Hon’ble Minister for  Tourism, Mr. Ajgaonkar mulled the idea of enacting tough laws to control over-adventurous tourists from venturing into the sea.
 
The meeting is also expected to review the measures taken by the police department and Anti Narcotic Cell pertaining to tracking down 
of 
drug trade in tourist places.
