Government to assess damage and losses on beach belt due to Ockhi effect: Ajgoankar

 
 

Panjim, November 4: The Hon'ble Minister for Tourism, Mr.  Manohar Ajgaonkar today said that the government will appoint competent authorities to assess the damage and losses caused to beach shacks and other properties due to the effect of the Ockhi cyclone on Goa's coastline. 
 
In a statement issued today, Mr. Ajgaonkar said that he spoke to the Hon'ble Chief Minister, Mr. Manohar Parrikar today who has offered full co-operation and necessary assistance in the interest of shack operators in Goa. 
 
Mr. Ajgaonkar further said that the government sympathizes with shack operators who have suffered damage and losses due to the rising water levels from the effect of the
Ockhi cyclone during the last two days.  The Department of Tourism, Govt. of Goa is monitoring the situation and has also cautioned tourists from venturing into the sea. The Department of Tourism has directed  Drishti  lifeguard service to be  on high alert.
