Foundation stones laid for Tourism Infrastructure Development  Projects  at Colva & Benaulim
 
Panjim,  July 10: Hon’ble Minister for Tourism,  Govt.  of Goa, Mr. Manohar Ajgaonkar,  in the presence of  Hon’ble MLA of Benaulim, Mr. Churchill Alemao,  today laid the foundation stones at Colva and  Benaulim  beaches for  tourism  Infrastructure development  which will  up the  profile and beauty   of South Goa’s two most  loved and  thronged  shores.
 
While Hon’ble 
Minister  for Tourism, Mr. Manohar Ajgaonkar spoke on the occasion,  the Hon’ble  Chairman of Goa Tourism Development  Corporation (GTDC), Mr. Nilesh Cabral in a written message said, “I am  extremely  thankful to  Hon’ble  Chief Minister, Mr. Manohar Parrikar for all his support towards   tourism  infrastructure development  in Goa.  I  also  thank the Hon’ble  Minister for Tourism, Mr. Manohar Ajgaonkar for  supporting all  initiatives  of the GTDC towards infrastructure development. As it is   known, Colva beach is proposed  to be  developed  as an Iconic  Tourist Beach location by the  Ministry  for Tourism, Govt.  of India.  We are  working towards this in letter and  spirit.  In addition to  Colva and  Benaulim beaches, we also propose to  beautify several other  beaches in  North and  South  Goa by way  of providing tourist facilities.  I congratulate all the teams  working on the projects and   assure to  have all works completed  at the earliest.”
 
 
The Rs 13.87crore tourism infrastructure development projects for  Colva and 
Benaulim  beaches will be   carried out by Goa Tourism Development  Corporation.
 

The   cost of the project for Colva   is Rs 11.67 crore.  This includes road beautification at Colva beach,  beautification of existing island,  pathways,  drainage etc, construction of toilet blocks with changing  rooms, four-wheeler parking for 80  vehicles and  two-wheeler parking  for 327 vehicles. It also includes bus parking for 54 vehicles,  play equipment  for children’s play area,  landscaping and  illumination.
 
As
faras  tourism  infrastructure development  at Benualim beach, this includes  pathways  with sitting facility at the  beach,  four- wheeler parking for  102 vehicles,   two-wheeler parking for 152 vehicles, landscaping and  illumination. The cost for this  project at Benaulim beach  will be  approximately Rs 2.20 crore.
 

Also present  today was  Ms Nelly Rodrigues,  ZP Member – Colva,  Mr. Antonio L. Fernandes, Sarpanch VP Colva ,  Diella Fernandes, Sarpanch VP Benaulim and other officials from Goa Tourism.
